What is ULEZ (Ultra Low Emission Zones)?

From September 2020, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) has meant that anyone with a non-ULEZ friendly vehicle is charged £12.50 for driving in the zone. The purpose of ULEZ is to clean up the capital’s air and make it more breathable – and it’s working. In the first 10 months of operation, combined harmful emissions (CO2 and NOx) were reduced by approximately 35%.

Which Areas are Affected by ULEZ?

Currently, ULEZ includes all parts of London contained within the North and South Circular roads. From 29th August 2023, the zone will increase to include every London borough.

New Low-Emission Cars

Many advantages come with switching to a hybrid, plug-in hybrid or fully electric car. Not only are they more affordable to run than their purely petrol / diesel-fuelled equivalents, they produce fewer emissions, which means they have a more positive environmental impact.
