Ford Mustang Car Fans Help Fund Wife's Cancer Treatment

Car enthusiasts from a Mustang owners club have rallied round to raise money after a man put his prized Ford Mustang up for sale to help fund his wife's cancer treatment.

Rob and Kim Scholefield were told the cancer was inoperable, which meant a special treatment was the only option.

Mr Scholefield put his car up for sale hoping to raise £150,000 for private treatment that may extend her life.

Fellow Mustang owners rallied round and raised about £13,000 within 24 hours!

This story was run on the BBC on the 30th June which circulated among Ford fans, Ford head office staff and colleagues at their local Allen Ford dealership who also wanted to help.

Both family cars (including a Ford Mustang) are being sold, so Ford stepped in to offer the open-ended loan of Rob’s choice from its car range. They have collected a Ford Focus ST-Line estate from Allen Ford, Fairground Way, Northampton, NN3 9HU, on 10th July at 10am. Allen Ford will generously provide a monthly fuel donation to ease the cost of Kim’s 180-mile round trips for treatment.
