With the greatest passenger capacity in the range, the Ford Transit Minibus gets everyone around in comfort and safety. It works hard as a true commercial vehicle, with the extra style, convenience and practicality of a people carrier.
The vehicle shares its look with the rest of the Ford Commercials range, from the flat roof down to the black underside panels. Twin glazed rear doors are fitted for easier access to the load space, and steps are integrated with the bumper for wiping the Quickclear heated windscreen. Even the door mirrors are highly functional, with built-in side indicators and blind spot eliminators.
It’s possible to choose the minibus with up to 17 seats over six rows, making it ideal for large group outings, motorway runs and transporting work crews. There are also short and long wheelbase versions, front-wheel and rear-wheel drive systems and roof heights – all with a full headlining and rubber-insulated load floor. The cabin looks and feels reassuringly like a Ford car, putting all of the main controls and systems exactly where you need them.
Available as a 1.0 EcoBoost Mild Hybrid. The hybrid powertrain uses an electric motor to support the petrol engine, delivering more power and improved fuel economy. The separate 48V Li-ion battery is automatically charged with regenerative braking, so you don’t have to look for places to recharge.
The engine for the minibus is a strong 2.2-litre Duratorq diesel, at 123bhp or 153bhp. At its toughest, the Ford Transit will comfortably hold more than 1.5 tonnes of payload or tow a braked weight of as much as 2.65 tonnes. The model is limited to the legal maximum speed of 62mph, and all engines deliver up to 38.2mpg combined fuel economy thanks to Ford Eco Mode and Auto Start-Stop technologies.
Ford SYNC lets you control your music and make and receive calls on your mobile, using simple, direct voice commands. You can use voice commands to play songs from a USB or MP3/iPod® too, or stream music from a Bluetooth®- compatible phone. The system even reads your incoming texts aloud (dependent on the mobile phone that is connected).
Automatic headlights use a sensor that detects failing light at dusk, or when there’s a sudden change in light conditions. This triggers the automatic headlights to turn themselves on, which can make driving both easier and safer.
A Shift Indicator light on the instrument panel tells you when to change gear for maximum fuel efficiency. It’s a simple but effective way to help make every journey more economical.
You can also tell that the vehicle is a Ford from the comprehensive safety features that it comes equipped with as standard. It’s kitted out with front, side and curtain airbags, Roll-Over Mitigation, ESC with curve control, emergency braking assistance and Hill Start Assist. The remote central locking includes automatic relocking if no doors are opened, and there’s a separate key system for the bonnet.
Electronic Stability Control constantly monitors your vehicle’s progress. It senses when a vehicle is losing grip and automatically applies a braking pulse to individual wheels, stabilising it. Using advanced sensors from the anti-lock braking and Traction Control System it monitors the behaviour of the vehicle.
Every part and component of the Minibus is made to maximise durability and go for longer without needing maintenance. That’s why service intervals are set at 30,000 miles or 2-years.
