Launched in April 2019, the Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) was created to improve air quality in the capital by significantly reducing harmful vehicle ignitions. The results so far have been very positive. For instance, nitrogen oxide (NO2) levels have reduced by about 46% in Central London alone.
Which Areas Does ULEZ Affect?
ULEZ is currently defined by those areas located within the North and South Circular roads. From 29th August 2023, ULEZ will expand to incorporate all London boroughs.
Exemption from ULEZ charges is just one good reason for switching out your regular vehicle for a ULEZ-friendly one. As well as being more eco-friendly, hybrid and electric vehicles are more affordable to run than their wholly combustion-engined equivalents.
