We're proud to announce the newly launched Transit Courier achieved a remarkable milestone by securing the highest-ever score of 93% in Euro NCAP Commercial Van Safety testing. Euro NCAP's dedicated program for evaluating commercial vehicle safety places particular emphasis on the availability of ADAS, and the Transit Courier stands out as the sole van to attain the prestigious platinum rating in 2023. This accomplishment also marks the first recognition under the rigorous testing protocols introduced this year.
Euro NCAP, the independent safety authority advocating for safer cars, vans, and trucks, highlights the severity of van-related crashes, often resulting in more significant impacts on other vehicles. Loss of control is a leading cause in head-on and rear-end collisions. Recognizing this, the integration of advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS) in commercial vehicles becomes imperative to prevent or reduce the impact of such accidents.
The platinum rating applies to all N1-category versions of the Transit Courier, including petrol and diesel models currently in production at the Ford Otosan Craiova plant in Romania, and the electric E-Transit Courier, set to commence production next year.
The success is a testament to the proficiency of engineering in the Transit Custom, which earned maximum points for its lane support technologies, including the Lane Keeping System and Blind Spot Information System. Additionally, it received a perfect score for speed assistance systems, such as Intelligent Speed Assist.
Notably, Ford Pro's dedication to safety extends beyond the Transit Courier, with the Transit and Transit Custom models achieving Gold status in 2021, along with the electric E-Transit in the preceding year.
