Kia Announce 3 New EVs At First Annual 'EV Day'

Today Kia presented its electrifying vision for the future at the brand's first annual Kia EV Day. The event, held in Korea, showcased Kia's commitment to leading the 'EV revolution' with an expanded electric model line-up and a focus on enhancing the customer experience. Three new small- to medium-sized electric models took centre stage, along with groundbreaking plans for charging infrastructure growth.

Kia's global strategy aims to accelerate the transition to electric vehicles. Following on from the successful launches of the EV6 and EV9, Kia is expanding its electric line-up to cater to more customers. The three new all-electric models revealed at the event were:

  • Kia EV5: A compact electric SUV designed to meet the needs of modern families.
  • Kia Concept EV3: A compact SUV that blends practicality with driving joy.
  • Kia Concept EV4: A striking electric saloon redefining electric vehicle design.

Kia plans to offer a wide-ranging EV line-up priced from approximately £20,000 to £60,000, with a strong focus on smaller, more accessible EVs. The company intends to achieve an annual sales target of one million electric vehicles by 2026, increasing to 1.6 million units per year by 2030.

To address concerns about charging infrastructure, Kia is actively expanding global charging networks and adopting the North American Charging Standard, providing access to approximately 12,000 Tesla Superchargers in North America. The company is also working to establish 30,000 fast-charging stations in North America by 2030.

Kia also announced they would be furthering their commitment to enhancing the customer experience by introducing the 'Kia App' in the first half of 2024. This app will offer comprehensive vehicle information, AI chatbot assistance, and insurance premium discounts. Kia also plans to improve offline customer experiences with exclusive EV stores and immersive VR and MR technologies.

In addition, Kia is set to incorporate generative AI technology into its EV models, starting with the 2024 EV3, to provide personalised services like schedule management, route optimisation, entertainment, and emergency support.

Kia's ambitious plans reflect the company's dedication to advancing sustainable mobility solutions and making EVs more accessible to customers worldwide. Kia will continue to showcase new electric models and technologies at future EV Day events, reaffirming its commitment to shaping the future of mobility.
