All-New Kia Sportage Design Revealed

Kia’s new Sportage is set to arrive in 2022, with a futuristic EV6-inspired design.

Last month, Kia teased us with thought-provoking images of the All-New Sportage (the brand’s most popular SUV) highlighting the model’s newly refined, muscularsilhouette. Finally, the All-New Sportage has been unveiled and dare we say it may just be the most beautiful and striking new model of the year!

The compact SUV has a new exterior design with aggressive and technical elements; sharp, boomerang-shaped headlamps, a pronounced bumper, and Kia’s signature elongated Tiger Nose grille which spans the entire width of the front facia, giving it an assertive road presence.

The side profile of the All-New Sportage stays true to its sports utility DNA with sharp contours and a clean yet refined body surface. We couldn’t help but notice the new and distinctive feature (and a first for the Sportage range) is the contrasting black roof, which helps accentuate its sporty look.

At the back, the model maintains a dominant road presence with its broad shoulders and sharp contours. The razor rear lamps further enhance its striking looks, cutting in to the body and connecting with the slim horizontal design, giving the All-New Sportage a wide impression from the back.

Kia claims to have used “the highest quality materials” throughout the interior, resulting in a clean and contemporary design. The curved centre console offers a combination of convenience and luxury; high-end gloss finishes, soft-touch switches, equipped with innovative technologies and a high-tech touchscreen.

Karim Habib, Kia’s design boss, said: “Reinventing the Sportage gave our talented design teams a tremendous opportunity to do something new; to take inspiration from the recent brand relaunch and introduction of EV6 to inspire customers through modern and innovative SUV design. With the All-New Sportage, we didn’t simply want to take one step forward but instead move on to a different level in the SUV class.”

The new, fifth-generation model is a reflection of Kia’s new design philosophy, ‘Opposites United’, which consists of five pillars: Power to Progress, Tension for Serenity, Joy for Reason, Technology for Life, and Bold for Nature. The last pillar (Bold for Nature) has influenced the design of the All-New Sportage to a great extent, embodying the natural world and creating a design identity that takes a daring, emotional, modern but organic form. Kia will be applying this design philosophy to future models too so that the same DNA is shared across the range.

The UK specifications for the All-New Sportage are yet to be revealed but we would like to see this fifth-generation model join Kia’s Electrified Familywith either a mild hybrid or plug-in hybrid powertrain.

More information on the UK model is expected to be released in September 2021.
