On Saturday 2nd September 2023, Old Brentwoods Rugby Football Club hosted the Niall Stringer Foundation for a day of rugby, community and fundraising supported by Brentwood Kia.
The special day was dedicated to the memory of Niall Stringer and it was a day that won't be soon forgotten.
Adding a touch of glamour to the day, Brentwood Kia generously donated a stunning Kia Sportage for the weekend, which helped dress the pitch and elevated the event to new heights – a testament to the power of community and shared values.
The highlight of the day was a thrilling rugby match that saw the Old Brentwoods RFC 1st XV playing an NS10 All Stars team, a line-up composed of Niall's friends and former teammates. The atmosphere was electric with over 500 enthusiastic supporters turning up to cheer on the players.
The rugby on display was nothing short of spectacular too, played in true Niall Stringer style with flair, smiles, and a commitment to the sport that was inspiring to witness. While the NS10 All Stars emerged victorious, the real winner was the spirit of camaraderie and sportsmanship throughout the event.Old Brentwoods RFC took advantage of the special occasion to unveil their brand-new Mobil OB Refreshment Box, making it incredibly convenient for the attendees to quench their thirst and satisfy their hunger. This thoughtful addition to the event was greatly appreciated by everyone in attendance.
In an unexpected twist, Brightstar Financial secured custody of the real Gallagher Premiership trophy for the day. This prestigious trophy was handed over to the NS10 All Stars, allowing them to lift it high and proud in honour of Niall Stringer. It was a touching moment that added to the emotional depth of the event.
The kindness of all those involved and the attendees were truly overwhelming. Donations poured in throughout the day and it's with great pride that we can announce that an astonishing sum of over £2,000 was raised for the Niall Stringer Foundation. This significant amount will undoubtedly go a long way in supporting the foundation's endeavours in fighting mental health.
Old Brentwoods RFC, the NS10 All Stars, Brentwood Kia and Brightstar Financial, along with the entire community, came together to celebrate the memory of Niall Stringer and contribute to a wonderful cause. This event was a resounding success and it serves as a reminder of the power of unity, sportsmanship and generosity within our community.
