Last year the Government granted a 6-month MOT exemption to vehicles due a test after 30 March 2020 and before July 31 as part of measures to help stop the spread of coronavirus.
Those exemptions have now expired and we now predict that later this summer we will be extremely busy – with almost twice the usual demand for MOT tests at what is traditionally the busiest time of year anyway.
We foresee a 60% increase in the number of MOTs needed during the summer months and September and with your MOT due to fall due you will be joining a crowd!
All appointments are made on a first served first come basis….those that leave booking until their service / MOT due date are likely to experience excessive and extended booking times due the vastly increased number of vehicles needing to access our workshops, obviously our workshop and technicians have capacity limits so unless advance action is taken you could experience difficulty getting an appointment and an appointment time that suits you.
Availability for bookings is likely to be limited, similarly our popular courtesy services - Collection / Delivery, Courtesy Cars, Vehicle Cleans will also be oversubscribed. So our recommendation to avoid inconvenience and disappointment is to get ahead of the crowd and book early!
Please note that an MOT can be carried out up to one calendar month prior to the expiry date of the existing MOT certificate, while still preserving the anniversary of the expiry date. If a test is carried out a month before the due date, the MOT is effectively valid for 13 months.
