Ford Focus ST Family Tree
2002 Focus ST170
Thanks to new forged pistons, a new cylinder head with variable intake cam timing and a freer-flowing exhaust system, power over the standard Focus of the time was raised to 170bhp – hence the ‘170’ name. Other upgrades included larger brakes and a 6-speed Getrag manual gearbox.
2005 1st Gen. Focus ST
Bursting on to the market in the signature launch colour ‘Electric Orange’, the 2005 Focus ST was a sight to behold. With a 2.5-litre, 222bhp, five-cylinder turbo engine borrowed from sister company at the time, Volvo, Ford made sure it had the power to match its eye-catching looks!
2008 2nd Gen. Focus ST
A mid-life facelift gave the Focus ST a sharper and more dynamic look thanks to new headlights, sculpted nose & bumpers all round. The 2.5-litre engine and chassis remained untouched.
2014 3rd Gen. Focus ST
When Ford announced the 2014 Focus ST would have a smaller 2.0-litre, four-cylinder EcoBoost engine, they were quick to add that although cylinders were down, power was up! 247bhp was now on tap & electric power steering was also introduced to sharpen its responses in the turns.
2019 4th Gen. Focus ST
This is the Focus like you’ve never seen it before. The All-New Focus ST has been precision engineered to be more powerful, more responsive and more fun to drive than ever. The 2.3-litre EcoBoost petrol engine is expected to produce an impressive 420 Nm of torque and 280PS of power.
