Motability Scheme Reopens

The Motability Scheme confirmed recently that from 1st July, new customers will be able to place an application with the organisation. The pricing for the wide range of vehicles available has also now been updated for July until October 2020.

Earlier in the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, we reported that Motability Operations Ltd, the company responsible for the Motability Scheme, had announced that it was unable to accept any new orders because of the challenges presented by the health crisis.

However, now that handovers for cars ordered before lockdown and new orders from existing customers are underway, it has announced that it is able to receive orders from customers new to the Scheme once again.

Motability said: “Please bear in mind that dealers are likely to be busier than usual. Your dealer will have social distancing measures in place, so you must contact your dealer to make an appointment.”

It is essential to book an appointment if you wish to visit our spacious dealerships, so that you can have peace of mind that we are reducing the risk posed by coronavirus (COVID-19) by minimising the number of people on our sites at any one time. This helps customers who wish to avoid contact with other people as much as possible while still providing our superb customer service in a seamless way.

  • If you placed an order before lockdown, we will contact you soon (if we have not been in touch already) once your vehicle is ready to make arrangements to hand it over to you in a safest way possible.
  • If you are in the final three months of your lease or you had your lease extended during lockdown, you can place an order now. However, it is not a problem if you do not want to for any reason or you want to keep your current vehicle until the end of the six-month extension.
  • If you took advantage of the six-month lease extension during lockdown but you want more time to order your next car, please contact us.
  • If you were still looking at which vehicle you wanted through the Scheme but had not yet joined the Scheme to place an order, then you can now go ahead and pick your perfect next car!

Other good news from Motability included an automatic "insurance-based refund of £50 to all customers" as a result of fewer insurance claims in April and May of this year and the chance to "access an advance of the £600 Good Condition Bonus (GCB) usually paid at the end of a lease" if lockdown and COVID-19 has caused a change in one's financial situation.
