Ford Puma ST Gold Edition Unveiled

Ford has revealed the winning specification for the new, limited-edition Puma ST Gold Edition (available to order in late 2021) as voted for by Ford fans.

Over the course of 10 days, Ford enlisted the help of 275,000 fans on social media to decide on bespoke design features for the new Puma ST Gold Edition. Ford fans were able to cast their vote in Twitter and Instagram polls for their preferred exterior paint colour (with 56% opting for Black over Grey) among other design features including brake calliper colour, stitching colour, exterior decals and badging. The Blue Oval even gave Ford fans the opportunity of choosing the name; the majority of votes went with Puma ST Gold Edition over Puma ST 24K Edition.

The results are in. Let’s take a look at the end product…

Fans were given the option of gold lines or stripes for the exterior decals, 74% of the voters chose lines. A great choice – this really adds to the sporty look without being too distracting.

As for brake callipers, Red won the majority vote, adding a bold contrast to the shiny gold alloys. The losing option was Black.

The Puma ST Gold Edition shares the same turbocharged 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine as the Puma ST. Built for performance driving with 197hp (200PS) and 320 Nm of torque, it enables the model to accelerate from 0 to 62mph (0 to 100 km/h) in just 6.7 seconds with a top speed of 137mph.

Like the Puma ST, the Gold Edition has been built to thrill, equipped with fun-to-drive dynamics including selectable Drive Modes (Sport, Track, and Eco), unique suspension, and steering specifications for sharper cornering.

The special edition will be available later this year in “limited numbers”. Pricing details are yet to be announced, but it is clear that the new model will command a premium over the current Puma ST model.
