The New Ford Puma compact crossover is coming soon to Allen Ford, Essex Ford and SMC Ford dealerships with SUV-inspired design, best-in-class load space, and sophisticated technology – including a mild-hybrid powertrain.

Designed for drivers of cars (such as the BMW X1, SEAT Arona, Volkswagen T-Roc, Toyota C-HR, Renault Captur & Nissan Juke) who want the next generation of compact crossover with the latest technology and more environmentally friendly emissions, the New Ford Puma is coming soon to Allen Ford's dealerships in the West Midlands, East Midlands, East London, Bath & Swindon; Essex Ford in the south of Essex; and SMC Ford in the north of Kent, Slough & Uxbridge in West London.

Working with drivers' feedback to create this dynamic and versatile vehicle, Ford has made an eye-catching exterior and combined it with a flexible and practical interior. The New Puma Titanium evencomes with front seats that have lumbar support and a massage function for extra comfort!

Inside there are clever storage spaces and a best-in-class 456 litres of capacity. Accessed using segment-first hands-free tailgate technology, storage in the back includes the "Ford MegaBox". The handy 80-litre MegaBox is a deep storage space that can be used for some of your more awkward or unusual cargoes. Ford say that it can comfortably accommodate "two golf bags in an upright position", "house unstable items up to approximately 115 cm tall – such as houseplants – in an upright position", or "with the lid down, the space can be used to conceal dirty sports equipment or muddy Wellington boots". Perfect for those occasions when you go for a quick round of golf in the rain with your favourite bowl of petunias.

Stuart Rowley, president of Ford Of Europe, explained: “Our customers told us they want a compact vehicle with stand-out looks that also delivers solutions for everyday living. The result is our new Ford Puma – charismatic, practical and offering technologies from massage seats to mild-hybrid powertrains”.

Beneath the bonnet the Puma will be available with an mild-hybrid powertrain as well as petrol & diesel engines, all of which will be supported by Auto Start-Stop for further reduced running costs and lower CO2 emissions.

Ford's mild-hybrid technology means that a belt-driven integrated starter/generator replaces the standard alternator to allow energy usually lost during braking and coasting to be recovered and stored in a 48-volt lithium-ion air-cooled battery pack. This energy can then be used to help the Puma's 1.0-litre petrol engine work more responsively and efficiently in addition to powering the car's other electrical systems. Available in 125PS and 155PS variants, the mild-hybrid system monitors how the car is being used continuously to work out how and when to best charge and use the battery.

The Puma’s 1.0-litre petrol engines also use Ford’s industry-first cylinder deactivation system, which switches off one the engine’s cylinders automatically when full power is not necessary, like when the car is coasting or cruising. The system can disengage or re-engage one cylinder in just 14 milliseconds!

Other smart technologies include the SYNC 3 infotainment system, the FordPass Connect integrated modem, Selectable Drive Modes, Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, new Local Hazard Information, wireless charging for mobile devices, and a 12.3-inch “true colour” digital instrument cluster.

Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop & Go, Speed Sign Recognition and Lane Centring lets owners handle any driving from the motorway to stop-start traffic. New Local Hazard Information is available through the FordPass Connect on-board modem, telling drivers about any hazardous situations ahead, such as roadworks, broken down vehicles, animals, pedestrians and objects in the road, and even dangerous driving conditions.

The New Puma uses 12 ultrasonic sensors, three radars and two cameras around the car to help a range of Ford Co-Pilot360 technologies improve your safety, parking and driving, such as Active Park Assist with Perpendicular Parking, Blind Spot Information System with Cross Traffic Alert, Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection, the Tyre Pressure Monitoring System, Road Edge Detection and Evasive Steering Assist.

The New Ford Puma's cabin is a stylish sanctuary from the rigours of the road. Everything has been thought through to provide you and your passengers with comfort, space and practicality.

A full-length openable panorama roof consisting of two panes of toughened, tinted glass makes the interior more spacious and airy whether you're in the front or the back. The front seats have even been created with slimmer backs to ease the knees of passengers in the rear of the car. The New Puma can also come with a 10-speaker, 575-watt B&O sound system that's been dynamically tuned for the optimum audio experience regardless of the driving conditions.

Pretty sound stuff.
